To be responsible for issuing building permits for residential and commercial new construction and renovations, to review plans and conduct building inspections, ensuring compliance with all municipal construction codes.
Responsibilities
The Inspections and Permits Division is responsible for the review of plans and issuance of building permits for all residential and commercial buildings and remodeling projects within the city. The division conducts inspections of construction projects to insure compliance with International Code Council building codes and local codes and ordinances. Duties include the application and enforcement of all federal laws, state laws, and local ordinances and rules and regulations pertaining to the City of Douglas. Assists the Planning & Zoning Division with zoning matters and processes applications for rezoning and annexation.
