Municipal Court
Douglas Municipal Court is the city’s judicial arm of municipal government. The court handles cases relating to city ordinances and traffic violations. Specific types of cases are routine traffic offenses, ordinance violations, animal control tickets, abatement of nuisances, and other misdemeanor offenses.
Court appearances are held at the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center located at 825 Thompson Drive, Douglas, Georgia 31535.

OR THE CITY OF DOUGLAS, GEORGIA
On May 11, 2020, the Honorable Chief Justice Harold D. Melton of the Supreme Court of Georgia issued the Second Order Extending Declaration of Statewide Judicial Emergency addressing continuation of essential court services and the re-opening of non-essential court services. Judge Ross has issued guidelines for in person court proceedings for the City of Douglas.

METHODS OF PAYMENTS FOR CITATIONS
Most citations can be paid without a court appearance, although there are exceptions such as theft by shoplifting, no insurance, driving under the influence, driving while license suspended or revoked, drug offenses, theft offenses, and suspended registration. The court date is on the citation that was issued to the citizen. No reminders will be sent for court dates.
To make a payment before the court date, citizens may pay by mail, by phone, in person, or online. No payments may be made on the day of court at the Municipal Court window. Payments for citations should be made payable to the City of Douglas. For those offenses which may be paid without a court appearance, payment can be made:
- BY MAIL to Douglas Municipal Court, 225 W. Bryan Street, Douglas, GA 31533 - Money order or Cashier’s Check only.
- BY PHONE by calling 1-888-349-6221.
- IN PERSON at the Douglas Police Department, located at 225 W. Bryan Street - Money order, Cashier’s Check, cash, or CREDIT CARD/DEBIT CARD transactions are accepted at the Municipal Court window for making payments in person only.
- ONLINE by following this link, Municipal Online Payments.
If payment is not made before the court date, the citizen must appear in court and wait for their name to be called. Municipal Court is held at the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center located at 825 Thompson Drive, Douglas, 31535.

RULES OF CONDUCT
Citizens who must make an appearance before the court should quietly enter the courtroom and be seated. Citizens must remain quiet and wait for their name to be called to appear before the court. Walk-ins, or citizens who have missed their previous court date or citizens who would like to address the court, must wait until the end of the regular court session to be called upon to speak to the court.
- No hats, shorts, tank tops, flip-flops, or bedroom shoes.
- No weapons of any kind.
- No cell phones or recording devices.
Violations of rules of conduct may result in the removal of the citizen from the courtroom.
