Moore Sworn-In As Ward 2 City Commissioner
At the Mayor and City Commissioner meeting on December 12, 2024, Brenda Moore was sworn in as the newly elected City Commissioner for Ward 2 by Mayor Tony Paulk. In June 2024, the Ward 2 Commission seat became vacant, which led to a special city election on November 6, 2024. This election resulted in a runoff held on December 3, 2024. Moore emerged victorious in the runoff election and officially began her term on December 12, 2024.
Commissioner Brenda J. Henderson Moore is the daughter of Deacon John Hezekiah and Pastor Queen Esther Watts Henderson. She has four (4) brothers: John Jr., Joseph, Ricky, and Van Henderson. Moore attended and graduated with honors from Coffee High School, South Georgia State College, and Valdosta State University. Throughout the years, Commissioner Moore has worked in several careers: Fashion Stylist, Shoe Department Manager, After-School Program Director, Office Manager, and Paralegal until she found her passion as an Educator. Brenda worked & retired from the Coffee County School System after teaching for 30 years. Acknowledging the call of ministry while also a member of the original Church of God in Unity, Brenda was ordained and has served as a Sunday school teacher, youth pastor, assistant pastor, choir & praise team member, soloist, poet, playwright, and actor.
Brenda is the proud mother of two children; Justin Alexander Moore, CHS honor graduate, class of 2005 & Jessica Alexis Moore, CHS honor graduate, class of 2006. Commissioner Moore has seven (7) grandchildren; one (1) girl and six (6) boys (Robyn, Zane, Xion, K’Ron, Ja-Vani, Xaylen, and Zayden) ranging in age from 2 to 8 years old.
