On April 18, 2026, the Keep Douglas Beautiful (KDB) Committee and the City of Douglas partnered to host the Great American Cleanup, bringing the community together for a day of service and environmental stewardship.
“We appreciate all our volunteers,” said Allisa Mills-Jackson, KDB President. “Their hard work and dedication have made the city cleaner and more beautiful. It was truly a remarkable effort by everyone involved.”
More than 25 volunteers participated, collecting over 30 bags of trash along with several tires and other discarded household appliances. Clean up teams concentrated on streets within the Ward 3 district that were identified through the Litter Index—an assessment tool used to locate areas in need of attention.
Following the cleanup, volunteers were treated to lunch at Fire Station #1, generously provided by the Douglas Fire Department, Williams Institutional, and Tifton Coca-Cola. Special thanks are extended to the Douglas Fire Department, Williams Institutional, Keep Georgia Beautiful, and every volunteer whose contributions made the event a success.
