In celebration of Black History Month, Heritage Station Museum has a special exhibit showcasing local black history memorabilia presented by Yvonne Clay. The exhibit will be on display until April 9, 2016. Heritage Station Museum is located at 219 W. Ward Street and is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays, 10:00am – 4:00pm and on Saturdays 10:00am – 2:00pm.
Heritage Station Museum features a variety of permanent exhibits commemorating local history. The Coffee County Historical Society manages Heritage Station Museum, coordinates programs, and conducts other history related initiatives as a way to preserve local history. An entire wing of the museum is dedicated to the railroad history of Douglas and Coffee County. The Whistle Stop Souvenir Shop is located inside the museum and displays locally made and grown products for visitors to purchase.
