[ARCHIVED] CITY TO HOLD RIBBON CUTTING FOR COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG) FUELING STATION

The City of Douglas Gas Department is proud to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony of the public-access Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fueling Station. On Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 10:00am, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony held at the new facility located at 1331 Pope Drive.

“We are very proud to be opening the only Compressed Natural Gas fueling station between Valdosta and Perry”, says Michael Hudson, City of Douglas Natural Gas Director. “This fueling station is opening because of the support and collaborative efforts of the Douglas Mayor and Commission, Waste Industries and the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia.”

Compressed Natural Gas can be used in the place of gasoline, diesel fuel and propane/LPG. It is a domestic energy supply with 98% of its supply being produced in North America and is cleaner for the environment. Any existing gasoline vehicle can be converted to a dual-fuel (gasoline/CNG) vehicle. The cost of purchasing CNG fuel is about 50% less than the cost of gasoline.

Waste Industries began using the fueling station on September 9, 2014 to fuel three sanitation trucks. After a short trial period, the CNG Refueling station will be open for public access. For more information about the Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Station, please call the Natural Gas Department at 912-389-3427.
