[ARCHIVED] CHRISTMAS PARADE RULE CHANGES

The Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade organizers have decided to make two changes to the parade rules and regulations this year, regarding horses in the parade and parade lineup.

Past accidents have caused City officials to make the decision to no longer allow horses in the Christmas Parade. Horses can become spooked and sometimes unmanageable in crowds, so the city officials do not want to be liable for any damages and are taking this measure as a precaution to prevent any future accidents/incidents.

The other change is in regards to parade lineup. All floats and entries will begin at the First United Methodist Church as it has in the past. However, parade entries will need to lineup on the WEST (right hand) lane of Peterson Avenue. This change has been made to help with the flow of traffic and help with the placement of entries in the parade lineup.

The Festival of Lights Christmas Parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 6:30pm. A full listing of parade rules and regulations are posted on www.cityofdouglas.com/Parade.
