[ARCHIVED] CITY ANNOUNCES SPRING JUNK FREE WEEK APRIL 22 – APRIL 27, 2013

The City of Douglas is ready to help citizens get rid of their brown and white goods junk items at no COST! Citizens can participate in the annual Spring Junk Free Week, April 22 through April 26, 2013, between the hours of 8:30am – 6:30pm and half a day, 8:30am – 1:00pm, on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Citizens can drop off large non-hazardous household items and electronic items to the City of Douglas Pole Yard, located at 607 S. Pearl Avenue, across from the Post Office and will not be charged any fees.

Acceptable brown and white good items include furniture, washing machines, refrigerators, dryers, stoves, microwaves, television, etc. This does not apply to hazardous chemicals such as paints/solvents, household cleaners, pesticides/herbicides, motor oil, antifreeze, or tires. Recyclables may also be dropped off in the recycling bin at the same location for the week. Citizens must provide proof of living in the city limits, such as a utility bill.
