The City of Douglas has received a request for a lot size variance from Terry Harrell. The location of the request is at Vacant Lot Parcel 0117C037, located off Bell Lake Road. The location is in the Residential Single-Family (12,000 sq. ft.) (R-12) District. Harrell seeks permission to build 1,200 sq. ft. homes on 9,000 sq. ft. lots. The code currently requires 12,000 sq. ft. lots to build 1,200 sq. ft. homes.
After discussion by the Douglas-Coffee County Planning Commission on November 21, 2024, the variance request and public hearing, will be made before the Mayor and City Commissioners, approving or denying the request on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 6:00 PM at City Hall, located at 302 S Madison Avenue, Douglas, Georgia 31533.
Anyone interested or has feedback regarding the variance request should appear at the said meetings on the above-stated dates. A copy of the variance request may be reviewed at City Hall in the Community Development Department, Planning Division, 302 S Madison Avenue Douglas, GA 31533, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Holiday hours may differ. The review may take place between now through December 23, 2024, by 5:00p.m.
