The City of Douglas has received an application to rezone 9.89 acres located at 733 Bowens Mill Road, from Light Industrial (M-1) to General Commercial (G-C). The applicant wishes to rezone to General Commercial for use of retail sales.
The Planning Commission will have a regular meeting regarding this request on October 20, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the Ashley-Slater House, located at 211 South Gaskin Avenue Douglas, GA 31533. If the request is approved by the Planning Commission, the recommendation of the rezoning will go before the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the City of Douglas, Georgia.
After approval by the Planning Commission, the rezoning request will be reviewed and read for the first time at a regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the City of Douglas, Georgia, on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the C.E. Weir Center, located at 307 E. Bryan Street, Douglas, Georgia.
This request will be read for the second time at the regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners followed by a public hearing on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the C.E. Weir Center, located at 307 E. Bryan Street, Douglas, Georgia. Following the public hearing, the ordinance will be voted upon at the regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the City of Douglas, Georgia. Anyone interested in said ordinance should be in appearance at the said meeting on the above-stated dates.
Based on the completion of construction at the new City Hall, the location for any regular meetings of the Mayor and Board of Commission may change to 302 S. Madison Avenue.
