[ARCHIVED] ANNUAL MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR PEARL AVENUE WATER TANK

DJI_0170

On Friday, August 20, 2021, the City of Douglas/ESG Operations Water Department will conduct annual tank maintenance at the elevated storage tank on Pearl Avenue.  Maintenance is performed annually to check the structural integrity of the tank and allows maintenance crews to correct any repairs as needed.  Each City of Douglas water tank undergoes this process every four years.

When routine maintenance is performed, citizens may experience discolored water.  Customers are advised to use precaution when washing clothes as it may discolor clothing. The Water Department has “rust-out” available, free of charge, to any customer who has washed clothing and clothing was discolored.  Please call ahead to pick up requested packets of “rust-out” for clothing.  The Water Department is now located at the Douglas Utilities building (100 Public Works Drive) at the Douglas Municipal Services Complex, 360 Georgia 206 Connector NW.

To report discolored water, please call the Customer Care Center at (912)384-3302 or dial 3-1-1 or the Water Department at (912)389-3447.
