[ARCHIVED] FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS CHRISTMAS PARADE

Don’t miss the 48th Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 3, 2011. The parade theme is “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Festivities will begin at 3:30pm in downtown Douglas at Atkinson Plaza with Music on Main Street until 5:30pm. The sounds of music will be heard throughout downtown, beginning with Amber Gilliard at 3:30pm and “Voices of Harvest” from Harvest Renewal Worship Center will perform until 5:30pm. At 6:00pm, crowds will cheer runners along the parade route as the South Georgia Track Club’s Christmas Parade 5K Run takes place. The Annual Festival of Lights Parade will light up Peterson Avenue at 6:30pm and make its way from the Courthouse to the Alternative Education Center (formerly the Pre-K Academy).

“We are looking to have more than 100 entries this year,” says Georgia Henderson, Central Services Director. “Douglas is sure to see creative floats of all types that are inspired by partridges, dancing, and the Christmas season.”
