[ARCHIVED] UPDATE ON HURRICANE MICHAEL FROM COFFEE COUNTY EMA

Local officials and community partners are participating in daily briefings and monitoring the progression of Hurricane Michael.  Based on current forecast by the National Weather Service Jacksonville, Coffee County can expect Tropical Storm Force Winds (39 miles per hour) or higher as the storm approaches with a potential for strong winds.  There is an Increasing chance of seeing hurricane force wind GUSTS across portions of interior southeast Georgia.
The threat for tornadoes will increase on Wednesday and Thursday as Michael's outer rain bands move across our region.  Make sure any outside objects such as trampolines, yard furniture and loose tin and other items are secure.  You should prepare for the possibility of being without power for 2-3 days or longer.  For more info go to: https://www.weather.gov/jax/
