Long time City Commissioner for Ward 6, Bob Moore, was chosen as the Mayor Pro Tem for 2017 by the Mayor and City Commissioners at the City Commission meeting on Monday, January 9, 2017. Commissioner Moore has served the citizens of Douglas for 9 terms.

Mayor Pro Tem Moore retired from the USAF Reserve after serving for 8 years. He has worked diligently throughout the years for citizens in his ward. Mayor Pro Tem Moore has served on the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Board of Directors. Mayor Pro Tem Moore has received the Certificate of Distinction which is the highest level of GMA training after completing 72 hrs. of training at the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute. Other certifications received over the years from GMA include the Certificate of Achievement and Certificate of Recognition. Mayor Pro Tem Moore is the Commissioner Liaison for the Douglas Utilities Department and serves on the Douglas Cemetery Board.
