[ARCHIVED] MAIN STREET HOMETOWN HARVEST THIS THURSDAY!

The annual Hometown Harvest will take place Thursday, October 27, from 4 PM to 7:30 PM on the vacant lot adjacent to City Hall located on Madison Avenue. Kids play area will be from 4PM – 7:30PM, candy distribution will be from 4 PM – 6 PM; registration for the kids costume contest will begin at 4 PM and end promptly at 5:30 PM. The costume contest will begin at 6:00 PM with winners being announced at 7:30 PM. The age for those participating in trick-or-treating and costume contest is 12 years of age and under. Participation for the costume contest will be free of charge. For a small fee kids can also enjoy a pony rides and other activities.

“At the present time, we have over 20 local community agencies and vendors participating,” says Pattie Merritt, Main Street Coordinator. “We will also have several downtown merchants handing out candy at their businesses.”

Beginning at 2pm on Thursday, a portion of Bryan Street to South Pearl Avenue will be closed for Hometown Harvest festivities. Customers of the City of Douglas should use Pearl Street to enter and exit City Hall. All community agencies that would like to participate in this year’s Hometown Harvest, please contact the City of Douglas Main Street office at 912-384-5161.
