[ARCHIVED] FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS CHRISTMAS PARADE REGISTRATION TO BEGIN SEPTEMBER 1st

Beginning September 1, 2016, the City of Douglas Public Information Department will begin to accept registration for the 53rd Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade. The Parade theme will be “Peace On Earth.” The annual parade will be on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

“We chose a theme this year with hopes to see everyone join together to promote peace and unity in our community,” says Georgia Henderson, Public Information Director. “Entries are encouraged to build floats based upon peace, hope, compassion and charity, all of which are God given gifts to mankind. We would like to see more involvement from our Churches, industries and local businesses. We encourage everyone to look outside the box to create floats with unique designs and flare that create memorable moments for all to enjoy and love.”

On Saturday, December 3, 2016, the parade will begin at 6:30pm on Peterson Avenue, with lineup beginning from the First United Methodist Church to Walker Street. Applications are available at the City of Douglas Public Information Department, located at 211 S. Gaskin Avenue. The primary mission of the Annual Festival of Lights Parade is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and quality family environment, in and on the streets of Douglas.
