Notice is hereby given in compliance with Georgia Code 22-2-109 and 32-3-5 that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the Location and Design of this project.
The date of location and design approval is: February 11, 2025
The project proposes to construct concrete curb and gutter, 5-foot concrete sidewalk, driveways, ADA ramps and striping, as well as any necessary drainage improvements. The project is located completely within the City of Douglas; also, located within Coffee County Land Lots 192, 193, 194, 195 and 222. Total project length is 1.76 miles.
Area 1 of the project begins at the intersection of East Gordon Street and N Coweta Avenue, the project follows East Gordon east to N Dewey Avenue, then south on N Dewey Avenue to E Franklin Street, then west on E Franklin Street to N Coweta Avenue, then north of N Coweta Avenue to its intersection with East Gordon Street. Area 2 is located on SR 158/East Baker Highway from Lakeview Avenue to SR 135/Bowen Mill Road S. Area 3 is located on South Gaskins Avenue from Pinecrest Drive to SR 135/Bowens Mill Road SE. Area 4 is located on South Fales Avenue from E Bryan Street to Spooner Road, then east on Spooner Road to Lupo Lane, then south on Lupo Lane to CSX RR. Construction will take approximately 12 months.
The City of Douglas would be responsible for acquiring property rights for this project.
