Coffee County Emergency Management Agency, City of Douglas and County personnel are continuing to closely monitor the Winter Storm and freezing weather conditions. Please be prepared for the extreme cold that is predicted through Thursday.
A winter storm is expected to begin around 4 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and will last until Thursday, January 23, 2025. The current forecast indicates freezing rain and 1 to 3 inches of snow starting on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, around 4 PM to early evening.
- The offices at the City of Douglas, Coffee County, City of Broxton, Coffee County School system, and some Coffee Regional Medical Center services will be closed Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The City and County may modify closing hours Tuesday, January 21, 2025 for non-essential employees at City and Coffee County offices.
- Businesses are encouraged to "idle" Wednesday and only open only if absolutely necessary for the safety of employees,
- Citizens are asked to stay off the roadways to assist with limiting the number of traffic accidents.
- All city meetings and Parks & Recreation games have been canceled for Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
- The warming center at Douglas Police Department will be open for those seeking warmth.
