[ARCHIVED] DOUGLAS WELCOME CENTER RELOCATING TO HERITAGE STATION MUSEUM

The Douglas Welcome Center will relocate to Heritage Station Museum beginning July 1, 2012 to better serve our area and visitors in Douglas. By providing space for Heritage Station Museum, Tourism, Douglas Main Street, and the Whistle Stop Souvenir Shop, the Welcome Center’s new location will be a visitor’s one stop shop for visitor information and local souvenirs.

“We hope by moving the Welcome Center to the Museum, we will be able to serve our visitors in a variety of ways,” says Georgia Henderson, Central Services Director. “The Ashley Slater House will continue to be a satellite Information Center and also provide information for visitors through the Economic Development Authority offices and Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce offices.”

The Douglas Welcome Center/Heritage Station Museum, once known as the old G&F Railroad depot, will continue to showcase the history of the railroad and Douglas-Coffee County. Hours of operation for the Welcome Center will be Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm and occasionally on Saturdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm for special programs and events.
